University of Kentucky Mushroom Blog

Welcome to the University of Kentucky Mushroom Blog

Here we celebrate the mushroom diversity of Kentucky and highlight different species of fungi observed in Kentucky forests and woodlands. We observe, identify and describe various species of fungi and share their ecological and cultural significance.

The University of Kentucky Mushroom Blog is managed by the University of Kentucky Forest Health Lab and with the involvement of University of Kentucky students. All mushroom descriptions and photos are taken by UK students or Forest Health Lab members.

As a component of a mycology class at UK, students were asked to photograph, identify and describe fungi they observed. Select ‘Blog Posts’ from the menu at the top of the page or the link in the image above to learn more about Kentucky fungi, as brought to you by UK mycology students.
